Happy Birthday, Beret Anna!

It’s hard to believe that a year ago we were in waiting mode for this precious girl. She’s settled into a new and improved napping routine and is busy enjoying the last of her baby days. Several of our girls were good at playing, but she takes the cake. She’ll focus on her toys for hours on end. The big girls love settting up creative environments for her to explore.

Mmmm, this one’s yummy

Beret Anna is still toothless, but she has a few words. Her first word was “Baa” and she says it every time we take her near her room. We almost always oblige her with a ride on her rocking lamb, which she loves. She says, “Muh, muh, muh, muh, muh” for me or for nursing and knows that Sarah will bring her to me when she says it. She says, “gu, gu, gu” for Go Go Go. That means she wants to swing or go for a stroller ride. Isn’t she blessed to have a 13 year old sister who loves to do both of those things with her? She calls her Daddy, “Dah!” and knows it’s time for fun when he’s home. She loves riding in our old Burley and we’re wondering if it will be worn off the frame before she outgrows it. “Ba” is her word for ball. It’s pronounced differently from the lamb “baa” and stands for the wonderful ball toys Grandma brought recently. “Nah” is another word she knows and she’s learned it from other people in the house saying “No!” – ha! She can find her head, find someone’s nose, wuzzle my nose, roll over, crawl, scooch on her bottom, pull to stand, cruise along a couch, and delight everyone in her family.

The big girls wanted this recorded too!

Just in case you aren’t sure how I feel.
I had to clean an unmentionable off the carpet one afternoon last week and asked Miss Sarah to take Miss Beret Bug outside for a minute so that she wouldn’t be crawling in the mess. When I finished I went to the door to grab Beret from Sarah and was given a firm, “No way.” I love that, but I love what I saw even more. With the big gap between Abby and Beret Anna I sometimes wondered how this little one would fit in with the rest of the crew. I need not have bothered with the wondering.

Those of you who know my crew know that the older four took their turns living in this wagon over the years. I hadn’t thought to bring it out for Beret Anna, but they remembered.
Isn’t she looking like a big girl here – and so like Holly too?

Ah, as much as I love a newborn… This stage is much more fun!

She loves riding in the Burley!

Beret Anna is learning about the joy of Daddy time. Soon enough she’ll know all of the big girls’ secrets.

Getting the basement computer fixed isn’t going to happen before I get very behind on my family scrapbook (blog). May’s pictures and videos will stay in hibernation until Dan has a free moment or two. Until then, let’s get on with the rest of spring and summer. Not one, but two, special Grandmas have told me it’s time.
It’s been exciting – and a bit of work – having a baby at the pool again.

The girls love how having Beret Anna brings back special memories – like being put in jammies at the pool in the evening. Here’s sweet Beret before we got her ready for bed one night in June.

Sarah is responsible for this great shot.

Silly girl needs to be read two books at once – and, no, she isn’t spoiled.
